What is World Oceans Day?

From the Bahamas to Hong Kong – across the international date line and across the planet….everyone gets involved! Are you getting involved?

On World Oceans Day, people around the blue planet celebrate and acknowledge the ocean which connects us all. It’s a great idea to get together with your family, friends, community, school, and child care, to recognise what needs to happen to ensure the ocean is kept safe and start creating a better future. The global celebration is a way to acknowledge that no matter where in the world we are – we all have a role to play in protecting our oceans.

A healthy world ocean is critical to our survival. Every year, World Oceans Day provides a unique opportunity to recognize, help protect, and conserve our world’s shared ocean. Why is the ocean so important? Because it:
